Extron Co-Sponsors High Definition Garden at CEDIA
Boasting a "North Woods" theme, the Garden of High Definition Delight returned for its fourth year at the CEDIA Expo 2002 held September 25-29 in Minneapolis, MN. Created and produced by Fred Ampel of Technology Visions SA, the CEDIA HD Garden was an excellent platform for AV professionals to assess, evaluate, and interact with various types of high definition displays. Extron, a co-sponsor of the event, was on-hand to coordinate distribution of the HDTV progressive component video signals used throughout.
Led by Steve Somers, Extron's Vice President of Engineering, the crew ran 100 foot lengths of Extron Super High-Resolution (SHR) cable and routed all HDTV video signals through three Extron Matrix 6400 Wideband Series switchers. Each display had its own dedicated control system connected to the switchers, allowing attendees to access more than 12 different sources that were available. "The Garden is a great way for attendees to experience a more private, close-up evaluation of the display," Steve said. "By enabling them with the ability to change signal formats or even switch to test patterns, this was a unique opportunity not typically found in most trade show floor exhibits."
