Extron Certification Frequently Asked Questions

Certification provides an industry standard, a commitment to a level of knowledge and learning that can be relied upon. Like a professional license, certification offers structured, reliable evidence of skills. Certification exams are built on rigorous and standardized criteria, and are often recognized internationally. In today's increasingly complex and highly-specialized economy, credentials are everything. Sure, you know you've got the skills to do the job, but how do you convince potential customers? For many career-minded professionals, certification is often the answer.

A certification program designed to recognize individuals who make an investment in training with Extron. This certification is the foundation to other Extron certifications and covers AV industry technologies as well as Extron products.

The first of multiple certifications designed to recognize individuals who have mastered skill levels required to successfully configure any IP Link based system.

The ECA certification is a multi-step process:

• An eligible candidate must obtain the AV Associate certification.
• An eligible candidate must complete the Extron Configurable Control System online training course or complete the Extron Configurable Control System instructor led course.
• Upon successful completion of the above requisites, the eligible candidate is authorized to attend the proctored on-site practical exam. Successful completion of this exam is mandatory for certification.

The ECS certification is a multi-step process:

• An eligible candidate must obtain the ECA certification.
• An eligible candidate must complete the Extron Control Specialist training course to include online components.
• Upon successful completion of the above requisites, the eligible candidate is authorized to attend the proctored on-site practical exam. Successful completion of this exam is mandatory for certification.

It is recommended that you complete the AV Associate certification prior to attempting any other Extron certification.

While most training provided by Extron Electronics has no fees associated with them, the certification programs do. Please contact your Extron representative for pricing.

The certification belongs to the individual who has successfully completed the requisites for each certification.

Certified individuals will receive technology updates and information allowing them to stay at the forefront of knowledge in their area of expertise. Certified individuals can use the respective certification logo on business cards and documents to increase marketing and advertising in their area.

Extron certifications are good for three years, as long as the certified individual adheres to the specific certification renewal process. Visit www.Extron.com for specific renewal process information on your certification.

Each eligible candidate must complete all identified requisites to obtain an Extron certification.

Because of potential liability issues we cannot "grandfather" anyone into any Extron certification. Extron must have written documentation showing demonstration of the identified skills for each area of expertise.

While each certification program is different, each contains an online training component as well as exam.

The AV Associate certification, which includes online training and exam, should take approximately 22 hours to complete.

The Extron Control Certification programs are much more robust certification programs. While online content may contain upwards of 10-16 hours of training, some instructor-led courses my only be eight hours. The Control Certification programs have an average of a 4 hour on site proctored exam associated with it. In addition you must complete the AV Associate certification requisites.

All online training is allotted 90 days to complete.
